November 4, 2005 Robert Pyle attended the two day Dimensional Funds Financial Advisor College in Santa Monica, California. During the conference many speakers talked about different topics. Ken French was the first speaker and he discussed the amount of inefficiency in different financial markets. Eduardo Repetto talked about the problems with indexing. Eugene Fama Jr. spoke about the evolution to applied core equity. James Davis spoke about multifactor models and asset allocation over long time frames. David Plecha gave a great analysis of the difference between cash flow and income during retirement. Truman Clark spoke about how to make portfolios more tax efficient using asset location strategies. Phil Tobin talked about donor advised funds. Robert Dintzner spoke about the new technology available for financial advisors. Weston Wellington demystified the current popular trends in the financial press. Eugene Fama gave a very interesting talk about his life in finance. Finally, David Booth spoke about the future of Dimensional funds. 
 
August 26, 2005 - New Article- Under Client Update called “It Is All Relative: A Comparison of Gas Prices, U.S. Real Estate, S&P 500 & World Markets”. This article was written before Hurricane Katrina. The goal of the article is to get people to think about things over the right time frame. Even with the jump in gas the last week or so, gas prices have barely kept up with inflation over the last 24 years. This doesn’t even take into account the increase in fuel efficiency over the last 24 years. Regarding real estate, we just wanted to compare the returns to other asset classes over different time frames. Finally, we looked at the performance of various mutual funds over two very different time frames.
